Lume
A CRM tool that allows therapists/counselors to seamlessly connect and monitor the mental health of their clients by tracking the health patterns of the clients.
|
Overview
Getting mental health support can be expensive and difficult to schedule at times. There aren't enough counselors to meet the needs of every client which causes a delay in appointments and missing important details. Lume is a platform that uses AI to track the mental health of the client and keep them connect directly with the counselors without adding stress to them. The challenge was to elicit data from the user.
I adopted the user-centered approach for this design to envision the initial design and iterated the design based on usability research. I worked as the designer of this app to research, ideate, design and prototype the product. |

Ideating:
This project needed an approach where the user could update their daily habits and mental state without fail. So, it was important to make them do it instead of hoping the user would do it. Hence, I designed a pop-up prompt that would prompt at a specific time daily and the user could only exit after they answer the four questions. The consultant could control the setting for force prompt. |

User Reviews:
The prototype was tested at a startup weekend, where the majority of users agreed to have gone through, or know someone who went through a mental health issue. The prototype received a positive response, and the pop-up data collection feature was loved by most of the participants. Some of the quotes from the interview are listed below, It would have been so helpful for my sister if someone had already thought about it. I love the fact that my counselor will have an update about my mental state daily instead of me meeting him every few months. |
So I can enter my daily behavior in here? That is so cool! There are a lot of features yet so simple design! I couldn't think of this. |
Learnings:
Diverse team: It was a collaborative project, where I was working with people from a business background, and communicating with someone who has a different perspective (business rather than UCD) about the same product was a great learning experience. Finding an unseen problem: Designing the data acquisition model was the most challenging part of this project. There needed a balance between making sure the user performs a task and keeping it intuitive and quick. Working on the business end of the project: Keeping both the user and the business aspect in mind and working through the constrains was challenging yet exciting. |
